A forklift, forklift truck or truck is a machine designed to move goods using two steel forks placed under the load. Many forklifts are powered by an internal combustion engine, especially forklift trucks.

The forklift was invented in 1920 by gearbox manufacturer Clark (now Clark Material Handling Company) to be able to move heavy goods. Later there have been other producers, among them Toyota. But Doosan, Jungheinrich, Mitsubishi, Still, Ausa and Kalmar are well known brands in Norway.
